PSINet Hong Kong Appoints CLP TeleCom as Strategic Network Services Provider into China

ChinaLink Chosen as Robust Route to Business in China

HONG KONG - October 25, 2001 - CLP TeleCom, a wholly owned subsidiary of CLP Holdings Limited, has been appointed by PSINet Hong Kong Limited ("PSINet Hong Kong") as a strategic network services provider via ChinaLink, its robust route to business in China. As a start, CLP TeleCom will lease five "E1" lines, with a total capacity of 10 MB to PSINet Hong Kong.

By wrapping fibre optic cables around the existing cross-border electricity transmission line owned by its sister company CLP Power, CLP TeleCom is able to offer highly secure, top quality and cost-competitive connectivity to the Mainland through ChinaLink. It is the first fully-protected Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) system to be built between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
