High Definition (HD) Video over IP Transport Service
between Tokyo and Hong Kong.
The service, which leverages Ax100 Video over IP gateways
from Path 1 Network Technologies Inc. (AMEX: PNO) of
San Diego, CA and CPCNet's international fiber-optic
network, is targeted for a wide range of companies requiring
efficient and reliable video transmission services.
This includes content providers, broadcast companies,
CATV operators, carriers, advertising companies, medical
service providers, remote education service providers
and many more.
From Hong Kong, the service's coverage will be extended
into China, Southeast Asia, Oceania, North America and
Europe, to capitalize on the demand for global IP transport
of high definition video materials for the Beijing Olympic
Games in 2008.
Reliable High Definition Video over IP Transport
Option
The High Definition Video over IP Transport Service
is an international service that combines Frontiers'
HD video transport solution and CPCNet's international
backbone to transport HD video materials over IP networks
at speeds of 30 Mbps without packet loss or delay.
HD video transport traditionally uses satellite channels
or dedicated line services using ATM and SDH technologies.
These transmission options and the physical transport
of video tapes post a host of challenges ranging from
restrictions in geographical reach, high manpower and
transmission costs. By using the solution from Frontiers
and CPCNet, broadcast grade HD video materials can be
transmitted and received in a digital video format between
a broader range of relay points.
The service utilizes both Ax100 Video over IP gateways
for video transport, as well as, Japanese High Definition
(HD) Encoders and Decoders (CODEC). The Ax100 Video-over-IP
gateway is designed by Path 1 Network Technologies Inc.,
which guarantees Quality of Service (QoS) by converting
HD video materials into IP packets for broadcast quality
transmission and reconstruction while the Japanese HD
CODEC is equipped with Video over IP and is a borderless
technology. Frontiers has signed exclusive and non-exclusive
resale agreements with Path 1 Network Technologies Inc.
for Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
CPCNet provides network-based VPN services connecting
major cities in China and other Asian countries over
a single platform. It operates an international data
network connecting around 40 cities in Greater China
and Asia. The collaboration with Frontiers will enable
seamless transmission of HD video transport service
over CPCNet's worldwide network.
Frontiers pioneered the offering of HD Video over IP
in Japan; its partnership with CPCNet will extend its
service to the global marketplace enabling it to serve
enterprises in Japan and the overseas market.
