2000 – PSINet Hong Kong Limited, The Internet
Super Carrier, announced that a new T3 has been deployed
to link Hong Kong to the United Kingdom. Armed with
this additional T3 to Europe, together with the existing
one to the US, PSINet is the only ISP in Hong Kong with
direct T3 ATM transatlantic and transpacific connection
to Europe and the US respectively - the International
backbone of PSINet Hong Kong has been greatly strengthened.
Nowadays more and more businesses are going international
and seeking advantages from the Internet for business
growth. To meet the increasing demand on Internet bandwidth,
this newly deployed T3, a 45 megabits per second link,
can further enhance customers’ worldwide traffic by
offering fast and direct connections to the European
Continent. The expanded network capacity, which enhances
network redundancy by this direct link to Europe without
routing through the US, allows speedy, flexible and
secure network connection. Together with the existing
T3 to the US, T1 to Korea and two E1 to Japan, users
can be benefited and supported by a true “Network of
network”.
The growth of Internet applications undoubtedly speeds
up the development and deployment of Intranet. With
PSINet’s broadened network, international companies
employing Intranet can also be greatly benefited - instead
of having numerous individual traffic to other countries,
