In September 2001, CITIC Pacific Group (SEHK: 267) acquired PSINet Hong Kong to commence its footprints in the communications market.

In February 2002, CPCNet Hong Kong Limited was established to reflect its connection and to signify the importance of the company in CITIC Pacific's strategy on value-added services in the regional communications market.

During that time, CPCNet was a prominent Internet Service Provider (ISP) serving the corporate business sector of Hong Kong and bridging opportunities for its customers between China and the rest of the world through business co-operation, partnerships and franchises. CPCNet provided services from connectivity solutions to the Internet, managed and dedicated server hosting, security service such as Intrusion Detection Service and Virtual Private Network (VPN) Solutions.

In March 2002, CPCNet launched its flagship product - TrueCONNECT™, the most advanced value-added Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) IP VPN service in the region, to meet the growing communication needs of business customers in Greater China.

In 2003, with the granting of a Fixed Carrier License by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) of Hong Kong and subsequent carrier licenses from government agencies of Taiwan, Japan and Singapore, CPCNet Hong Kong has transformed from an ISP to a Regional Communications Service Provider.

Through a significant strengthened network and enhanced alliances and partnerships, CPCNet is able to offer world-class communications services, from traditional Internet connectivity to private networks based on the latest technology, to small and medium enterprises as well as regional and world-class multinational corporations.

With TrueCONNECT™ and other superior international connectivity services, CPCNet has firmly established itself as a key communications service provider in Greater China and Asia with its advanced technology and excellent customer service.

In 2004, CPCNet was awarded the ISO9001:2000 issued by DNV under the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAK). The certification further reinforced the company's commitment to the implementation of quality management principles in its delivery of communication services. Besides, CPCNet launched GlobalCONNECT (MIPLC, ATM and FR) and TrueCONNECT™ PREMIUM VPLS to strengthen the company's international connectivity portfolio.

In January 2005, CPCNet launched SSL VPN, a secure clientless remote access to CPCNet's fully managed TrueCONNECT™ Corporate Private Network via the Internet.
